Forensic Scientist I, Screening

At Abbott Laboratories, we are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Scientist I, Screening to join our team in Richmond, VA. As a key member of our Toxicology division, you will be responsible for operating the instruments used to perform the initial analysis on urine specimens for substances of abuse.
Key Responsibilities:- Operation and maintenance of the Screening Instrument and initial review of data
- Knowledge of screening methods
- Troubleshoot issues with screening instruments
- Adherence to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information
- Adherence to all established guidelines outlined in Employee Handbook
- BS degree in science or equivalent related field
- Advanced ability to understand analytical techniques and procedures
- Advanced ability to understand laboratory instrumentation
- Advanced ability to understand certification requirements for SAMSHA, CAP-FUDT, and other relevant regulatory bodies
- Basic ability to understand the function of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other laboratory computer systems
- Basic understanding of drugs that are tested
