The MRI Technologist operates advanced magnetic resonance imaging equipment to create detailed cross-sectional images for diagnostic evaluation. Responsibilities include: interviewing patients to explain procedures and ensuring the removal of any hazardous metal objects, positioning patients accurately on the examination table, and utilizing specific coils as per the radiologist's protocols. The technologist will facilitate communication with patients during examinations through a microphone system and will input essential data into the imaging system, including patient history and scanning parameters.
Furthermore, the technologist will monitor patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure, reviewing images for quality assurance, and documenting results as necessary.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a minimum of two years of experience in MRI. ARRT (R)(MR) certification is highly preferred. If not currently registered in MRI, candidates must obtain registration within one year of employment. A valid license from the NYS Department of Health is required. Additionally, candidates must possess or be able to obtain BLS and IV certification within three months of hire, with on-site training available.
