A Wonderful Place to Reside

Located just a short distance from major urban centers, Nyack offers welcoming communities, scenic landscapes, outdoor activities, convenient shopping, and easy access to metropolitan areas. With both mountains and beaches within a few hours' drive, there is plenty to explore.

The MRI Technologist operates advanced magnetic resonance imaging equipment to create detailed cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic evaluation. Responsibilities include: interviewing patients to explain MRI procedures and ensuring the removal of any metal objects that could pose risks during the imaging process. The technologist positions patients on the examination table and applies the appropriate coil (receiver) based on the area of interest, adhering to protocols established by the radiologist. Communication with patients is facilitated through a microphone system during the examination.

Data entry is crucial, including patient history, the anatomical area to be scanned, specified orientation, and entry position into the MRI equipment. The technologist inputs commands to define scan sequences and adjusts the equipment as necessary. Patient safety and comfort are monitored through a control room window, and image quality is assessed on a video display screen. The technologist captures images by entering data into the camera's keyboard and alerts staff about the potential hazards of metal in the magnet room.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of two years of experience in MRI. ARRT (R)(MR) certification is highly preferred. If not currently registered in MRI, registration must be achieved within one year of employment. Must be licensed by the NYS Department of Health. BLS and IV certification are required within three months of hire, with on-site training available for IV certification.
