Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at King's Daughters, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by applying x-ray energy and computer processing techniques to assist in diagnosis or treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Preparation and Examination
    • Verify patient orders and obtain clinical history prior to examination
    • Communicate with patients and family members to ensure understanding of examination procedures
    • Position patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest
  • Image Acquisition and Evaluation
    • Perform examinations by analyzing patient information to select proper scanning protocols
    • Edit scan protocols as needed to ensure optimal diagnostic value
    • Evaluate images for technical quality and manipulate display parameters as necessary
  • Radiation Protection and Safety
    • Practice principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others
    • Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners
  • Equipment Maintenance and Quality Assurance
    • Perform diagnostic testing on equipment and report malfunctions to supervisors
    • Perform quality assurance scans to ensure optimal equipment performance
Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • Graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiography program or equivalent
    • Maintain active certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
    • Maintain active Radiographer Operators Certificate (ROC) in the Commonwealth of Kentucky or other applicable states as needed
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Achieve and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
Working Environment
  • Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
  • Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
