System One Holdings, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Piping Project Engineer III to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Lake Mary, FL. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing piping system designs that meet code, contract, and schedule requirements for our Gas Turbine power projects in the Americas.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement piping system designs that meet ASME B31.1 and B31.3 Codes, ensuring compliance with contract and schedule requirements.
- Interpret and respond to piping technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel with minimal supervision.
- Integrate and improve design requirements from our parent company, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
- Work closely with our parent company to establish timelines and obtain critical documents within the agreed-upon timeframe.
- Expedite subcontractors through the purchasing department, reviewing progress reports and conducting periodic shop visits to ensure quality and compliance.
- Review project contracts, schedules, and requirements to determine piping requirements, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, reviewing contract requirements and developing/maintaining master document lists for piping and layout engineering.
- Prepare inquiry and purchase specifications for piping fabrication, pipe supports, piping hardware, and special elements in piping systems.
- Review isometrics and other piping-related mechanical drawings with minimal supervision.
- Review P&IDs and equipment drawings against piping drawings.
- Prepare piping component lists (valve list, specialty component list, etc.) using P&IDs and reports from 3D models.
- Extract reports from piping 3D models.
- Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality.
- Understand piping design philosophy and perform piping designs as needed.
- General understanding of pipe stress analysis and pipe support.
- General knowledge of materials and piping hardware (bolts, nuts, and gaskets) in the preparation of piping, valve, and support technical specifications and subsequent purchasing.
Other Duties:
- Develop processes and procedures to ensure effective and optimized use of resources while providing high-quality design packages.
- Strive for excellence by developing concepts to improve piping systems and reduce costs.
- Interface with EPC contractors, customers, parents, and affiliated companies in periodic meetings to ensure understanding of engineering matters.
- Request, receive, and handle technical information required/indispensable for the project from subcontractors cooperating with the purchasing department and discuss with the project manager/engineering manager.
- Follow up and resolve any pending items found during or remaining after project execution up to the expiration of the warranty period.
- Perform other technical project implementation duties as required by the company from time to time.
- Assist the application engineering group by reviewing and evaluating customer specifications together with the parent company, as necessary.
- Protect company confidential information by not communicating, disclosing, or using for the benefit of third parties and maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required. Master's Degree in Engineering desirable.
- 5-10 years of directly related technical experience.
- P.E. license desirable, but not required.
- Knowledge of 3D modeling software packages (particularly Smart3D) desirable.
- Familiarity with ASME Section II, PCC, MSS-SP, and PFI Codes desirable.
- Familiarity with welding and NDE processes desirable.
