Piping Project Engineer III Job Description

System One is currently seeking a highly skilled Piping Project Engineer III to join our team for a long-term contract in Lake Mary, FL.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for developing piping system designs that meet code, contract, and schedule requirements for Power's Gas Turbine power projects in the Americas.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Understand and interpret ASME B31.1 and B31.3 Codes to ensure piping code requirements are correctly defined and incorporated into the design and vendor requirements.
  • Interpret and respond to piping technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel with minimum supervision.
  • Review project contracts, schedules, and requirements in detail to determine piping requirements, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Prepare inquiry and purchase specifications for piping fabrication, pipe supports, piping hardware, and special elements in piping systems.
  • Review isometrics and other piping-related mechanical drawings with minimum supervision.
  • Extract reports out of piping 3D models and establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality.
  • Understand piping design philosophy and perform piping designs from time to time.
  • General knowledge of materials and piping hardware in the preparation of piping, valve, and support technical specifications and subsequent purchasing.

Other Duties:

  • Develop processes and procedures to ensure an effective and optimized use of resources while providing high-quality design packages.
  • Strive for excellence by developing concepts to improve piping systems and reduce costs.
  • Interface with EPC contractor, customer, parent, and affiliated companies in periodical meetings to ensure understanding of engineering matters.
  • Request, receive, and handle technical information required for the project to and from subcontractors cooperating with the Purchasing department and also discussing with the Project Manager/Engineering Manager.
  • Follow up and resolve any pending items which are found during or remain after completion of Project execution up to the expiration of Warranty period.
  • Perform other technical Project implementation duties as required by the Company from time to time.
  • Assist Application Engineering Group by reviewing and evaluating Customer Specification together with the parent company, as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering desirable.
  • 5-10 years of directly related technical experience.
  • P.E. license desirable, but not required.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software packages (particularly Smart3D) desirable.
  • Familiarity with ASME Section II, PCC, MSS-SP, and PFI Codes desirable.
  • Familiarity with welding and NDE processes desirable.
