Piping Project Engineer Job Description

System One is seeking a highly skilled Piping Project Engineer to develop piping system designs that meet code, contract, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Understand and interpret ASME B31.1 and B31.3 Codes to ensure piping code requirements are correctly defined and incorporated into the design and vendor requirements.
  • Interpret and respond to piping technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel with minimum supervision.
  • Review project contracts, schedules, and requirements in detail to determine piping requirements, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Prepare inquiry and purchase specifications for piping fabrication, pipe supports, piping hardware, and special elements in piping systems.
  • Review isometrics and other piping-related mechanical drawings with minimum supervision.
  • Extract reports out of piping 3D models.
  • Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality.
  • Understand piping design philosophy and perform piping designs from time to time.
  • General knowledge of materials and piping hardware in the preparation of piping, valve, and support technical specifications and subsequent purchasing.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum five (5) years and maximum ten (10) years of directly related technical experience.
  • Desirable but not required: Master's degree in engineering, P.E. license, knowledge of 3D modeling software packages, familiarity with ASME Section II, PCC, MSS-SP, and PFI Codes, familiarity with welding and NDE processes.
