Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in providing accurate and timely clinical diagnostic information to healthcare providers.
Job Summary:The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing clinical testing, quality control, and maintenance in assigned departments. This includes waived, moderate, and high complexity testing. You will also be responsible for monitoring the collection, transportation, storage, identification, and processing of specimens to ensure specimen integrity prior to testing.
Responsibilities:- Perform clinical testing, quality control, and maintenance in assigned departments.
- Monitor the collection, transportation, storage, identification, and processing of specimens to ensure specimen integrity prior to testing.
- Recognize deviation from expected results, analyze, and correct problems using scientific principles and laboratory policies.
- Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment.
- Analyze quality control data, make judgments concerning the results, and take appropriate action to maintain test accuracy and precision.
- Work independently and organize work to meet established guidelines and records, such as turn-around times, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Adhere to laboratory policies and procedures, personnel policies, and administrative policies and procedures.
- Associate degree in a science-related field with a certificate of completion from a Medical Laboratory Technician program from an accredited institution.
- Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
- May be hired into this position if he/she has completed the requirements for registration but has not successfully completed the MLT exam; however, the exam must be successfully completed within 6 months subsequent to hiring.
