Position Overview:

The Audio Visual Support Technician plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience at Haverford College by ensuring the effective operation of classroom audio-visual systems. This full-time position is integral to the Instructional Design and Technology Services (IDTS) department, which is dedicated to providing innovative solutions and superior service to our diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Maintenance: Conduct troubleshooting, testing, and routine upkeep of both portable and installed AV equipment to guarantee optimal functionality.
  • Installation and Configuration: Set up and adjust classroom AV equipment and control systems to meet instructional needs.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside faculty to enhance classroom instruction and technology-driven projects.
  • Training and Support: Provide assistance and training to faculty and staff on the use of existing and new AV technologies, developing user-friendly training materials.
  • System Design: Collaborate with the AV Manager and relevant personnel to plan and upgrade AV systems throughout the campus.
  • Supervision: Assist in the recruitment, training, and oversight of student employees who support college events and equipment loan operations.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess an associate's degree or equivalent certification in an audio-visual field, along with a minimum of two years of experience in AV systems maintenance and support. Familiarity with Crestron and Extron equipment, as well as a strong understanding of AV configuration and operation, is essential.

Professional Skills:

  • Proficient in both MacOS and Windows environments, with a solid grasp of presentation software and video conferencing tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to non-technical users.
  • A commitment to staying updated with the latest AV technology trends.

Physical Requirements:

Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, navigate ladders and stairs, and effectively utilize tools requiring fine motor skills.

Work Environment:
