Position Summary:

The Graphic Production Specialist plays a crucial role in transforming customer-provided artwork into a format suitable for printing. This position ensures a smooth and efficient workflow from the initial scheduling of artwork through to the proofing process and the finalization of press-ready files.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify or recreate client artwork using design software such as Illustrator and Photoshop to meet production standards.
  • Generate production proofs while comprehending separations that illustrate the final layout for client approval.
  • Process all files according to specific printing requirements, including press marks, color adjustments, trapping, and applying necessary tolerances.
  • Exercise independent judgment in assembling graphic files, evaluating needs and product specifications to create a final press-ready document.
  • Prepare files in compliance with strict branding guidelines.
  • Advise clients on artwork submissions based on the capabilities of Flexographic and Digital printing.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Phenix's artistic and manufacturing capabilities to provide optimal recommendations for design and departmental processes.
  • Stay informed about all equipment and software utilized within the department.
  • Understand calibration, profiling, and workflow procedures effectively.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on all departmental machinery.
  • Proofread all work, including client proofs and final plate files.
  • Ensure accuracy in all orders to facilitate efficient workflow, communicating any artwork changes to relevant teams to guarantee timely adjustments in tooling, inks, and materials.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings.
  • Complete any additional tasks as assigned by the Graphics/Prepress Manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage administrative tasks, including maintaining records and reports.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and self-driven approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, showcasing initiative, time management, organizational skills, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintain professionalism and respect towards all internal and external stakeholders at all times.
  • Fulfill any reasonable requests from management to ensure the smooth operation of the department and company.
  • Support the company’s mission statement, core values, and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in production art and flexographic printing is preferred.
  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design or Printing Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong work ethic, time management, troubleshooting skills, positive attitude, and attention to detail are essential.
  • Proficient in graphic design software, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Ability to work effectively in both Macintosh and PC environments.

Physical and Other Requirements:

This position is performed indoors in a controlled environment. Tasks are conducted in close proximity to others and may involve exposure to distracting lights and sounds. The role requires occasional standing, stooping, walking, and bending, as well as frequent sitting, talking, listening, and lifting/moving items up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Manual dexterity is necessary for handling objects and operating computers and office equipment.
