Fleet Technician Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Technician to join our team at the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners. As a Fleet Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of fleet vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations
  • Use specialized tools and equipment, including brake lathes and welding machines
  • Assist in the training of new technicians and other staff members
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair; diesel mechanics experience a plus
  • Valid State of Florida driver's license required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with X endorsement preferred
  • Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) certification in air conditioning repair and recycling required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
