Counselor III Job Description

Cascadia Health is seeking a highly skilled Counselor III to join our team. As a Counselor III, you will work with individuals mandated to treatment by the State of Oregon's Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB) to provide trauma-informed care and support their recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical interventions, coordination of care, and supportive counseling with residents.
  • Complete Behavioral Health Assessments, Treatment Plans, and develop Behavioral Support Plans.
  • Provide individual and/or group therapy/psycho-education in living skills, self-care, community resources, recovery, wellness, and life skills.
  • Monitor and supervise clients under the jurisdiction of the PSRB and assist clients with developing and maintaining structured activities in accordance with their goals and the terms of their release into the community.
  • Generate therapeutic treatment plans, redefine goals throughout treatment, and conduct continuous assessment and measurement of progress toward treatment goals.
  • Consult with the Case Manager, Program Manager, Program Supervisor, and the Administrator On-Call as necessary to maintain treatment team communication.
  • Coordinate treatment and continuity of care with community stakeholders, guardians, and representatives from the legal system, housing, social security, hospital care, medical care, and other community-based agencies.
Requirements:
  • Must meet the requirements and demonstrate the competencies to be credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
  • Must have a Master's Degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification must be current and in compliance with MHACBO.
  • Ability to conduct a Mental Status assessment and formulate a diagnosis according to the most current DSM.
  • Have a general understanding of criminality and criminogenic risk factors.
  • Must understand recovery model, motivational interviewing, illness management and recovery, evidence-based practices, and strength-based case management philosophies and strategies.
  • Proficient in operating computer hardware and software (including EMR software).
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data and to prepare simple reports.
Working Conditions:

The Counselor III will work in a residential setting, providing support and guidance to residents in a variety of activities, events, and excursions involving skills building and community integration. The employee must have the ability to assist the team in providing safety to all clients and staff in potentially volatile situations.

The Counselor III will also be required to participate in on-call rotations, providing crisis intervention services as needed.
