Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Nutrition Services, the Production Chef will plan, coordinate, and assist in the oversight of activities and operations of the food service production kitchen. This includes overseeing the work of assigned food service personnel, researching and developing new recipes, and coordinating food preparation for catering activities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and assist in the oversight of activities and operations of the food service production kitchen.
  • Oversee the work of assigned food service personnel.
  • Research and develop new recipes and large quantities of food items to meet production requirements.
  • Help coordinate food preparation for catering activities.
  • Plan and participate in catering assignments.
Requirements
  • Four years of responsible food service experience, including two years of supervisory experience and two years of scratch and quick-scratch cooking experience.
  • An Associate's degree in culinary arts, dietetics, food and nutrition, hotel and restaurant management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manager Food-Safety Certification and possess and maintain an appropriate, valid Driver's License and safe driving record.
Additional Requirements
  • A cover letter, resume, three (3) letters of reference, a copy of a valid California driver's license, and a copy of a current (within 30 days) driving record must be submitted with the application.
  • Successful candidates must be insurable by the District's liability carrier.
