The Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct patient care under the direction of the RN professional. He/she assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care as a team member in order to achieve established outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Performs non-interpretable data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive hygienic care, assists with ambulation and meals as directed by the registered professional nurse.
• Positions patients, provides pre, post op and post mortem care as a safe patient environment by answering call lights promptly, communicating with the RN immediately for any change in patient s condition.
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/ age, educational literacy, etc).
Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited program in Licensed Practical Nursing
• Current valid New Jersey LPN license
• Maintain current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association
Work Environment:
Regular contact with Medical Center personnel, patients and visitors
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00
Contract Weeks: 89
