Job Summary

Pittsburgh Regional Transit is seeking a highly skilled Director of Transportation Training to develop, coordinate, and implement employee training programs, curriculum, and qualification programs for the employees operating the bus fleet and light rail vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training Program Development: Plan, design, and implement comprehensive training programs for employees, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and company objectives.
  • Training Delivery: Develop and deliver training content, including classroom and on-the-job training, to ensure employees possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Training Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Supervision: Supervise and manage the Bus and Rail Instruction department, ensuring the development and implementation of new and current employee training programs.
  • Performance Management: Develop measurable performance goals and objectives, conduct performance appraisals, and monitor achievement of goals against adopted plans.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Learning and Development, Organizational Psychology, or a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum of six (6) years' experience in training and development in transportation or technical fields, with a minimum of four (4) years' supervisory/management experience.
  • Skills: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement employee training programs, ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B with air brake restriction removed and P endorsement within 90 working days, and proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Preferred Attributes
  • Project Management Experience: Experience in project management, including coordinating with others and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Learning Strategies: Knowledge of learning strategies and the ability to coordinate with others to develop and implement effective training programs.
  • Learning Management Systems: Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and experience in administrating coaching sessions and mentorship programs to establish a continuous learning culture.
