Aquatics Coordinator Job Description

The City of Anniston is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Aquatics and Fitness Center, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the operations of our aquatic center, ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons.

Essential Functions:
  • Coordinate and oversee the functions and activities at the aquatic center, including planning, developing, and implementing classes and activities.
  • Act as a point of contact and reference for patrons and staff, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Monitor and enforce safety codes and standards, preventing injuries and fatalities.
  • Perform rescue and emergency interventions, lifesaving procedures, and first aid as needed.
  • Ensure all safety and flotation devices and equipment are readily available and in good working order.
  • Represent the City in a positive manner, communicating effectively with supervisor, patrons, and the general public.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; minimum of two years of previous work experience in aquatic programs or lifeguarding.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required; Certified Pool Operator (CPO) designation and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) designation preferred.
  • Ability to swim proficiently and effectively perform lifesaving duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changes in schedule.
Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion, including long periods of standing, walking, and lifting moderately heavy items.
