Responsibilities

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing consultation requests and consulting with Radiologists as necessary
  • Completing all departmental processes for resulting and documentation of exams
  • Pleasantly greeting patients and confirming their identification
  • Explaining examination procedures to patients and their families
  • Demonstrating a complete working knowledge of all equipment located within the Ultrasound department
  • Performing routine diagnostic and ultrasound procedures according to established protocols
  • Maintaining Joint Commission standards and ACR accreditation
  • PAC scanning all patient-related forms and information
  • Following the department Code of Conduct
  • Ensuring exam pre-requisites are completed prior to appointment
  • Ensuring appropriate storage and ordering of supplies for the Ultrasound area
  • Monitoring and reporting supplies in shortage and special order items
  • Performing visual preventive safety inspections and conducting daily quality assurance tests on the US Scan equipment
  • Identifying any problems and communicating to immediate supervisor
  • Evaluating scans for technical quality
  • Demonstrating anatomy under investigation through proper positioning
  • Assuring access to care by adding on exams whenever possible or finding an alternative when not possible
  • Verifying correct order entry and supply charging
  • Recognizing emergency situations, initiating code procedures, and administering first aid or CPR as needed
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • One year of previous experience in the hospital setting
  • Clear Communication Skills Both Written And Verbal
  • Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
  • Able To Withstand Crisis Situations
  • Has Skills To Provides Customer Service To Patients, Team Members And Visitors
  • Knowledge And Experience With Electronic Health Records
Credentials

You will need to possess:

  • ARDMS-RDMS - Registered Diag Medical Sonographer
  • BLS - Basic Life Saving certification
Education

A minimum of an Associate's Degree in a related field is required.
