Position Summary and Requirements
As a Pharmacy Technician Compounding, you will operate under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, assisting in the processing, preparation, and dispensing of patient medication orders in accordance with professional standards. Your role will require proficiency in sterile compounding techniques, which may include hazardous drug preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately fill medication orders and compound medications and parenteral admixtures, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Perform sterile compounding, including chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition, while adhering to aseptic techniques and USP 797 regulations.
- Obtain final verification from the pharmacist before releasing or packaging any prepared medications.
- Manage medication returns and restocking processes within the pharmacy.
- Conduct daily automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) routines, including restocking and troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate records for routine manufacturing and prepackaging tasks.
- Notify the pharmacy inventory manager of any supply issues, including shortages and damaged products.
- Communicate effectively with hospital staff and prioritize workload based on critical issues.
- Perform inspections and expiration date checks as scheduled, ensuring compliance with departmental procedures.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a course accredited by an ACPE provider, providing 40 hours of instruction in sterile compounding.
- Preferred: Hospital experience and a minimum of one year in sterile compounding.
- Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State Board of Pharmacy or Intern Certification.
