Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our team at GMP Friction Products. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day activities of the laser operations, including setup, maintenance, and operation of the CNC laser machine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setup and operation of the CNC laser machine, including loading programs, selecting cutting heads, and centering beams.
  • Maintaining efficient run rates and material utilization.
  • Unloading and deburring of parts using pneumatic die grinders and electric angle grinders.
  • Operating a forklift to move materials and load/unload trucks.
  • Filing out travelers with job-specific information.
  • General upkeep of the shop and machine cleaning.
  • Assisting with shipping and receiving.
  • Identifying different types and thickness of material.
  • Knowledge of gases used, how to replace parts, and set pressures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with the use of micrometers and calipers.
  • CAD and Trutops software experience helpful.
  • Minimum of one year in all areas of operation of the CNC laser.
  • Experience in a precision machining environment helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, drawings.
  • Forklift training.
  • Carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format.
