SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:


Assist in the Loan Review Program to mitigate loss impacts, evaluate the quality of the bank's lending portfolio, and ensure compliance with established policies and quality lending standards.

This role requires independent execution of tasks, emphasizing the understanding of financial data and the ability to conduct and interpret financial analyses (e.g., liquidity, leverage, cash flow coverage) for both companies and individuals. The primary responsibility involves monitoring the institution's current loan portfolio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Achieve the objectives outlined in the loan review policies and procedures.
  • Conduct precise analyses (review format) of current borrowers from an impartial viewpoint to ensure accurate risk ratings. This includes evaluating and interpreting liquidity, leverage, and operational metrics; calculating and discussing cash flow coverage; and considering management, industry, rent roll, and collateral.
  • Continuously review all loan types and commitments in accordance with Loan Review policy requirements to classify loans, assess the level of attention needed, and identify actual and potential credit issues promptly.
  • Monitor both overall and specific loan portfolios for significant operational changes, underwriting, credit quality, and relationship manager performance, reporting findings to the supervisor.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, graphs, and memos, some of which are distributed internally and/or to the bank's loan committees and Audit Committee.
  • Support department colleagues in preparing various assessments or other assignments as requested.
  • Meet established deadlines consistently.
  • Engage in discussions with relationship managers regarding specific loan situations as necessary.
  • Recommend modifications to existing procedures and note significant trends when appropriate.
  • Update procedures and suggest changes to loan review policies as required.
  • Keep the supervisor informed on the progress of reviewed loans and any potential problem loans or situations.
  • Validate the accuracy of management reports utilized in the respective lending departments.
  • Maintain adequate communication with peer banks and relevant government banking agencies to stay updated on the latest innovations and requirements in the Loan Review function.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not involve supervising employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role operates within a professional office setting, routinely utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is frequently required to: 1) type or otherwise work with fingers; 2) communicate verbally, conveying detailed or important oral instructions to other workers or clients accurately and effectively; 3) perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, receiving detailed information through oral communication; and 4) see, including viewing a computer monitor and extensive reading.

Sedentary work may require occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds and/or moving up to 25 pounds. This work involves primarily sitting with some walking.

TRAVEL:
No travel is required except for potential training and/or conferences.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:


A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field with coursework in accounting (at least intermediate level), finance, and economics.

A minimum of four years of banking experience (specifically in loan review, credit analysis, or business banking/commercial lending) or similar equivalent experience is required.
