Loan Portfolio Evaluation Specialist

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:
Assist in the Loan Review Program to mitigate loss impacts, evaluate the integrity of the bank's loan portfolio, and ensure adherence to established lending policies and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Achieve the objectives outlined in the loan review policies and procedures.
- Conduct precise analyses (review format) of current borrowers from an impartial viewpoint to verify the accuracy of risk ratings. This encompasses evaluation and interpretation of liquidity, leverage, and operational metrics; calculation and discussion of cash flow coverage; and consideration of management, industry, rent roll, and collateral.
- Engage in continuous monitoring of all loan types and commitments in accordance with Loan Review policy requirements to classify loans, ascertain the level of attention needed, and identify actual and potential credit issues promptly.
- Track overall and specific loan portfolios for significant operational changes, underwriting, credit quality, and performance of relationship managers, and report findings to the supervisor.
- Prepare assigned monthly and quarterly graphs, reports, and memos, some of which are distributed internally and/or to the bank's loan committees and Audit Committee.
- Support other department members in preparing various assessments or other tasks as requested.
- Meet deadlines consistently.
- Consult and advise relationship managers on specific loan scenarios as necessary.
- Propose modifications to existing procedures and note significant trends when appropriate.
- Update procedures and suggest changes to loan review policies as required.
- Keep the supervisor informed about the progress of reviewed loans and any potential problem loans or situations.
- Validate the accuracy of management reports utilized in the respective lending departments.
- Maintain adequate communication with peer banks and relevant government banking agencies to stay informed about the latest innovations and requirements in the Loan Review function.

This position does not involve supervising employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role operates within a professional office setting. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines are routinely used.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is frequently required to: 1) type or otherwise work with fingers; 2) communicate verbally, conveying detailed or important information accurately and clearly; 3) perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; and 4) see, including viewing a computer monitor and extensive reading.
Sedentary work may involve occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds and/or moving up to 25 pounds. This work typically involves sitting most of the time with some walking.
TRAVEL:
No travel is necessary except for potential training and/or conferences.

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field with coursework in accounting (at least intermediate level), finance, and economics.
A minimum of four years of banking experience (specifically in loan review, credit analysis, or business banking/commercial lending) or similar equivalent experience is required.
