POSITION SUMMARY
Open Arms Care is seeking dedicated individuals to provide essential support for our clients. In certain situations, we require interim staff (also known as PRN or per diem) to ensure consistent and high-quality care during times of reduced staffing. The schedules for PRN staff may resemble those of full or part-time employees based on operational needs, often necessitating availability during weekends and holidays. Open Arms Care reserves the right to offer hours as needed, and while requests for specific workdays will be taken into account, consistent scheduling cannot be guaranteed.
It is important to note that PRN staff do not receive employment benefits such as paid time off, health insurance, or retirement plans typically available to full or part-time employees. Should a PRN employee wish to transition to a full or part-time role, their request will be considered if a position is available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent Open Arms Care in a professional manner at community events and meetings.
• Organize and implement daily activities that foster a positive and structured environment, ensuring that the individuals served experience a person-centered, organized, and independent atmosphere.
• Make independent decisions regarding best practices, quality assurance, risk management, and problem-solving, including timely reporting of significant incidents.
• Coach, teach, and mentor clients in home management and personal independence, promoting individual rights and self-advocacy.
• Engage clients in meaningful active treatment and support plans, ensuring adherence to the established Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and relevant regulations.
• Advocate for the unique needs and welfare of each client within both home and community settings, ensuring follow-up on identified concerns.
• Assist in coordinating and transporting clients to appointments and recreational activities, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
• Maintain precise records of client participation and progress in training programs aimed at developing independent living skills.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on individual support plans, behavior management, and incident reporting.
• Foster positive relationships with clients' family members and maintain effective communication internally and externally.
• Attend all required training sessions and meetings to stay current with certifications.
• Provide support across local operations as needed.
• Transport clients to various appointments and activities as assigned.
• Adhere to work schedules and demonstrate dependability, managing time off and documenting hours worked accurately.
• Execute responsibilities in a professional, timely, and efficient manner, including additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- As a PRN Support Services Specialist at Open Arms Care, the following commitments are expected:
• Availability for at least one (1) shift every two (2) weeks, including one (1) weekend shift per month, and one (1) holiday shift during summer and winter.
- PRN staff must: Maintain a high level of attendance with one or fewer absences in a 90-day period.
- Meet the minimum shift requirements.
- Deliver care consistent with full and part-time staffing standards.
- Hold a current CPR certification.
- Complete all mandatory training as required.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Have a valid driver's license and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds, which may involve tasks such as lifting, repositioning, and bending.
- Exhibit strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills for effective communication.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to procedures, laws, and policies.
- Project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization.
- Be an effective team player.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
