About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Body Weld Operations Manager to join our team at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, U.S.A., Inc. This is a key leadership position that will play a critical role in driving the success of our body weld operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Production Improvement Strategies: Develop and implement production improvement strategies to achieve business plan priorities, focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with advisors from Mazda and Toyota to ensure alignment of activities and support business plan objectives.
  • Establish Strong Team Member Relations: Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, providing support for people development, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Manage Budgets and Resources: Oversee both capital and operating budgets for labor, materials, and improvement projects.
  • Lead Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for sustainable daily operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Communicate Effectively: Share information and communicate goals within and outside of the department, clearly reporting status to upper management as needed.
  • Problem-Solve and Implement Countermeasures: Collaborate cross-departmentally to identify and resolve production bottlenecks and chronic downtime.
  • Validate Standardized Work Instructions: Ensure standardized work instructions are in place for body weld production processes.
  • Develop and Manage Shop Safety Program: Develop and implement a comprehensive shop safety program, managing timely implementation of countermeasures to resolve problems.
  • Improve Body Weld Quality: Ensure white metal body quality and coordinate activities with the team to improve body weld quality.
  • Promote Problem-Solving Activities: Encourage and facilitate problem-solving activities within and outside of the department.
  • Lead Activity to Eliminate Production Bottlenecks: Utilize Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) to identify and eliminate production bottlenecks and chronic downtime.
  • Identify and Implement Efficiency Improvements: Identify muda (waste) in body weld processes and implement activities to improve efficiency.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 Years' Supervisory Experience in an equivalent role or internal demonstrated experience.
  • Proficiency in Cross-Functional Processes
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills with a high mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 Years' Supervisory Experience in manufacturing, preferably automotive body weld.
  • Experience Developing and Implementing Action Plans to support business goals and objectives.
  • Budget Planning and/or Management Experience (to include both operating and capital budgets).
  • Working Knowledge of Stamping/Body Weld Production Processes.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Stamping and Body Weld Environmental Requirements.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Body Accuracy Requirements and Datum Structures.
  • Experience with High-Volume Automation including robotics and PLC's.
