Job Title: Facilities Operations Specialist

Join our team as a Facilities Operations Specialist and contribute to the success of our organization. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for providing direct oversight and management to the Cancer & Genetics Research Complex (CGRC) loading dock, as well as supporting the general operations of the CGRC building as a liaison to external vendors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations in the unit, assisting the Manager with workload and performance management and providing daily supervision to the team as needed;
  • Work closely with UFHCC, UFGI, and ICBR administration, plans major facilities projects and maintenance, coordinating bids, managing schedules, and communicating with building occupants and leadership, as appropriate;
  • Conduct annual inventory and asset management, coordinating with UFHCC, UFGI, and ICBR administration and institutional partners to resolve discrepancies as necessary;
  • Coordinate the delivery, set up, and/or shipment of large equipment, working with building occupants and the Facilities Operations Assistant to move existing items, unpack, and dispose of packing materials;
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge/Experience: Six to eight years' experience in facilities operations, preferably at the University of Florida and/or in a complex research center;
  • Expert knowledge of UF operations and facilities management policies/procedures will be necessary to succeed in this role long-term;

Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to successfully work independently, interact professionally, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate program issues and to respond appropriately in a timely manner;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Demonstrated success and experience in project management, as well as the ability to lead focus groups and committees through project completion;
  • Proficient time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, anticipate and identify conflicts, and meet deadlines with excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions to optimize performance and drive projects to completion;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
