Job Title: School Social Worker/Behavioralist ABA

The Children's Home of Kingston is seeking a skilled School Social Worker/Behavioralist ABA to join our team. This role will work in conjunction with the school Assistant Principle and the Licensed Social Worker to provide individual, group, and family therapy to children and their families or caregivers within the Grove Street Academy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide psychiatric support and therapy to students and their caregivers, documenting sessions according to agency and professional standards.
  • Offer individual counseling and treatment, trauma-informed counseling and treatment, family and group counseling, and transitional counseling to support children's development.
  • Establish treatment goals for children, utilizing historical and current available information in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assist children and youth to develop skills as defined in treatment goals, promoting integration with community resources and skill-building.
  • Function as a team member, communicating effectively and consistently with family, case planning staff, and medical practitioners.
  • Provide psychoeducation and wellness education, enhancing compliance with behavioral expectations.
  • Utilize interventions drawn from evidence-based psychotherapeutic methodology, demonstrating competence in dealing with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Conduct workshops for parents, make needed referrals for health and professional services, and access to public benefits.
  • Provide services based on the child's IEP (Individual Education Plan).
  • Attend weekly counseling department and attendance meetings, demonstrating working knowledge of child and adolescent development, indicators of developmental delay or disability, the effects of trauma, abuse, separation, and loss, family systems theory, human sexual development and behavior, indicators of alcohol or substance abuse, neglect, and family violence.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Master's Level Social Worker, marriage and family therapist, or mental health counselor.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of previous clinical experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in medical or mental health field preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish & English a plus.
