Job Overview


Under the supervision of the Assistant Director / Post-Award Manager within the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Grants Accounting Assistant is tasked with managing financial operations related to all grants and contracts, both internal and external.

This role is crucial in the post-award process, ensuring that grant funds are managed effectively, including the setup of awards, review and approval of expenditures, timely billing for incurred costs, adherence to sponsor guidelines, and support with financial reporting.

This position offers the potential for a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:
Support research and grant management from the initiation of the award to its conclusion.

Execute and manage financial transactions for all grant-related accounts, encompassing federal and other external awards, institutional initiative grants, internal faculty and student grants, and special internal funds.

Monitor transactions for compliance and ensure alignment with agency and institutional regulations.
Process and authorize invoices and reimbursements.
Review and approve P-card transactions.
Prepare necessary journal entries as required.
Facilitate payments for grant-funded students.
Manage faculty supplemental compensation and summer salaries.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes.

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline.
1-3 years of experience in accounting is required.
Experience in research administration is preferred.
Experience in higher education is also preferred.
Ability to work autonomously.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Exhibit exceptional organizational abilities, precision, and attention to detail, along with the capacity to meet deadlines.
