About the Role

Cedarhurst Senior Living is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Director of Nursing to lead our clinical operations team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to our residents, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Oversight: Lead and oversee all aspects of clinical operations, including nursing staff, to ensure the delivery of quality care to residents.
  • Care Planning and Coordination: Develop and implement nursing service objectives, policies, and procedures in coordination with organizational goals and objectives, in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Staff Management: Manage and coordinate the work of all nursing and care staff, communicating pertinent resident health and safety information.
  • Medication Management: Supervise and monitor medications for residents who self-administer, if applicable.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the pharmacy and community relationship, ensuring medications are delivered timely, eMAR is accurate, and address any concerns in real-time.
  • Documentation and Communication: Provide interim documentation as required to resident files, attend all scheduled interdisciplinary resident care meetings.
  • Team Development: Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and retain a high-performing resident care team.
  • Community Engagement: Hold service plan meetings with residents and families to discuss service plans.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Direct communication with surveyors during IDPH surveys and assist with plan of corrections.
  • Infection Control: Implement and maintain infection control policy and procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory and order nursing care supplies as needed.
  • Professional Development: Engage in efforts to increase occupancy rates while prioritizing the wellbeing of our residents to support them in aging comfortably within the community.
  • Resident-Centered Care: Promote the physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing of each resident and strive to maintain the ultimate goal, which is to return the resident to their maximum level of self-care and independence, when possible.
  • Advance Directives: Understand the residents' Advance Directives and follow their wishes.
  • Communication: Ensure effective communication is being utilized by community staff with the residents' families concerning residents' care, encompassing their physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaboration: Work well with others and take direction from management, as well as take initiative with the capability to engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited nursing school and a current state license for LPN or RN is required at all times, with 3+ years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Certifications: CPR and BLS certification preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of best person-directed care practices for seniors, including those with dementia preferred. Knowledgeable of and experienced in conducting preadmission assessments, training, and education to staff, residents, and family members.
  • Technical Skills: Be able to demonstrate proficiency in Internet browsers (e.g., Explorer, Chrome, and Fire Fox), Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Publisher, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and any HR-related systems if applicable.
