Humanities Faculty Position

Position Overview
This is a full-time, nine-month faculty role within the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education (HSSE) Department. The successful candidate will engage in teaching and program leadership, contributing to the academic community.

Compensation and Benefits

Key Responsibilities
The HSSE Department is looking for a versatile educator to take on the role of faculty director for the First-year Seminar Program. Responsibilities include:
• Managing a half-time teaching load, focusing on introductory composition and humanities courses.
• Overseeing the design and evaluation of the First-year Seminar courses.
• Providing guidance and support to instructors within the program.
• Advising students and participating in recruitment and retention initiatives.
• Engaging in departmental and campus service activities to enhance student experiences.

Workload Expectations
A tenure-track appointment entails a 24.0 credit hour workload per academic year, while a lecturer appointment involves 30.0 credit hours. The director's responsibilities will be integrated into the faculty workload.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• A Master's degree in English, American Studies, Composition, Writing Studies, History, or a related field.
• Proven experience in program assessment and collaboration with faculty and staff.
• A commitment to student-centered teaching and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in developing and teaching college-level composition courses, both in-person and online.
• Prior experience in program assessment design.
