Job Summary

The Home Visitor position at Puget Sound Educational Service District is a critical role in providing quality, comprehensive, home-based child/family support services for pregnant women and infants/toddlers and their families. As a Home Visitor, you will provide support, training, and case management to assist parents in meeting the needs of their infants/toddlers and enhancing their role as the primary influence on an infant/toddler's education and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and enroll pregnant women, infants/toddlers, and families for comprehensive home-based child/family support services.
  • Analyze child assessment data and collaborate with parents to develop individual school readiness goals in five developmental domains.
  • Assess family, pregnant women, and infant/toddler needs through regular comprehensive home visits under potentially dangerous conditions.
  • Assist families in arranging for transportation to program activities to ensure participation.
  • Collaborate with Paraeducators or childcare providers to provide guidance and support in their interactions with pregnant women, infants/toddlers, and families.
  • Conduct health and developmental screenings and complete ongoing assessments in the family's home or preferred language to identify needs, assess children's health and development, and develop individual learning plans.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of socialization groups, parent engagement, and other program activities to support individual school readiness goals, parent/child interactions, and parenting skills.
  • Develop individualized plans in partnership with all enrolled families to facilitate progress toward family goals.

  • Identify family strengths, health care needs, and social service needs to provide referrals and support services to infants/toddlers and their families.
  • Maintain a variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records for data collection, recordkeeping/documentation, and tracking services to pregnant women, infants/toddlers, and families.
  • Participate in workshops, meetings, community events, etc. to receive and/or present information.
  • Participate as a team member and/or partner in interdisciplinary planning for pregnant women, infants/toddlers, and families with community partners such as Maternity Support, Early Intervention (Birth to Three) providers, Child Protective Services, Department of Children and Family Services, Department of Social and Health Services, Department of Corrections, community mental health providers, etc. to provide case management to assist parents in meeting the needs of their families.
  • Promote physical well-being and community connections to agency providers to support optimal growth and development.
  • Provide services for pregnant women (e.g., health/nutrition/mental health support and follow-up, perinatal education, resources, etc.) to deliver services to expectant families in conformance with established guidelines.
  • Recruit and train parent volunteers to strengthen community engagement.
  • Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources to provide information and/or direction.
  • Review and update immunization records for each infant/toddler to ensure infants/toddlers receive vaccinations on an age-appropriate schedule and/or compile information for the annual immunization reporting.
  • Support families in accessing Early Head Start programming in their home or preferred language to ensure culturally and linguistically responsive services.
Requirements
  • Home Visitor Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field with coursework equivalent to the Home Visitor CDA.
  • Experience working with children age birth-5 and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Head Start/Early Head Start/ECEAP or other comprehensive child development/family support program serving low-income families.
  • Experience working with infants and/or toddlers.
  • Experience working with pregnant and/or postpartum women.
  • Experience providing home visits with pregnant women and/or families with children age birth-5.
  • Experience working with refugee families, immigrant families, and/or families with limited English speaking abilities.
  • Community outreach experience.
  • Bilingual ability - Spanish preferred.
  • Experience working with interpreters.
