About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Explore Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality education to our students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
  • Provide targeted small group instruction and co-teach with general education teachers
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to support the needs of all learners
  • Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) structures
  • Maintain compliance for students on caseload, including participating in IEP meetings and communicating with families
  • Cultivate a positive classroom culture using the Responsive Classroom approach
  • Attend and actively participate in all meetings, including Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and grade-level meetings
  • Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, such as arrival/dismissal and hallway monitoring
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • 2+ years of experience teaching special education in a middle school setting
  • New York State Teaching Certification, preferred
  • Special Education Certification, preferred
  • Master's Degree in Education, strongly preferred
