We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Meat Department Supervisor to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our store leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the meat department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Supervise and delegate tasks to Meat Team Members, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless department operations.
- Training and Development: Work with the Team Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team, minimizing turnover and maximizing productivity.
- Customer Service: Resolve difficult customer situations, ensuring a positive and satisfying experience for all customers.
- Department Maintenance: Ensure all necessary breaks are given, and maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
- Performance Management: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
- Communication: Communicate and maintain Team Member safety and security standards, providing timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
- Leadership Skills: Excellent communication skills, ability to lead and develop others, and demonstrated decision-making ability.
- Product Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of meat products, ability to communicate living conditions of animals to customers and Team Members, and thorough product knowledge.
- Regulatory Compliance: Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures, including Food Safety and regulatory duties required in the department.
- Mathematical Skills: Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with operations-related applications and ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
- Retail Experience: 12+ months retail experience, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Lifting and Standing: Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
- Environmental Factors: Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
