Boston, Massachusetts, United States Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Full time
About the Role

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking an experienced IT Quality Assurance Lead to join our Boston-based Information Technology Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving successful test planning and execution for multiple concurrent Underwriting projects within a Policy system.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial P&C insurance underwriting or claims IT experience, with hands-on experience testing on the Duck Creek platform. You will be responsible for engaging business users and IT team members throughout the lifecycle of projects and production, actively working with offshore-based consulting partners in leading and executing our quality assurance policy activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans for multiple concurrent Underwriting projects within a Policy system.
  • Own all QA initiatives, including test design, execution, defect management, UAT coordination, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders on a global level to successfully execute User Acceptance Testing.
  • Communicate project status, highlights, and risk to IT leadership.
  • Work closely with onsite and offshore Analysts to ensure delivery across all project areas.
  • Coordinate with offshore QA contractors to maximize time zone overlaps and widen avenues of communication for a full accounting of deliverables.
  • Develop process standards and/or enhancements to prevent the re-occurrence of QA issues.
  • Plan and facilitate production checkouts for all scheduled releases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a QA Leadership role, supporting complex systems development or packaged software implementation efforts.
  • 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance analysis, testing, and execution on web-based and desktop applications.
  • Experience working in regulated industries, preferably Commercial P&C Insurance Underwriting or Claims functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, subject matter experts, and vendor resources.
  • Effective time management, with the ability to execute and prioritize multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong understanding of the End-to-End (E2E) software development process and system development lifecycle, including E2E testing.
  • Strong knowledge of defect systems such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Quality Center, or any other defect management tool.
  • Expert in working with globally distributed teams.
  • Hands-on style with strong problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Strong desire to learn and share knowledge with teammates.
  • Prior experience with the Duck Creek Platform, or equivalent P&C insurance systems, is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in building and implementing automation frameworks is preferred.
  • ISO expertise is a plus.
