Medical Laboratory Technician

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

License: Not required for submission
Certifications: ASCP, BLS
Must-Have: Experience with tube method blood bank, ability to perform phlebotomy, experience in multiple laboratory areas
Job Description:
- Work independently in a small, rural laboratory facility covering various areas including Hematology, Serology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Blood Bank.
- Perform a full orientation on day shifts for six shifts before transitioning to regular rotating shifts.
- Take responsibility for phlebotomy and have patient contact.
- Be available for night shifts typically over weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and holidays.
- Operate within a specified charting system (CPSI) and utilize specific laboratory equipment:
- Hematology: Beckman Coulter DXH
- Coagulation: Stago compact
- Chemistry: Abbott Alinity, triage meter
- Blood Gas: Opti
- Microbiology: Vitek PCR, Biofire
- Urinalysis: Clinitek
- No specific scrub color or dress code is required.
- Be prepared to potentially be on call or standby during night and weekend shifts, with the current call schedule from midnight to 6 AM, possibly 23 days per week.
- An ideal candidate should be outdoorsy as the location is suited to outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and camping, with amenities like shopping malls being a distance away.
