Overview:
- Virginia Oncology Associates stands as the foremost collective of healthcare professionals in the Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina regions, specializing in oncology and hematology.
- We are currently in search of dedicated Medical Assistants to support our operations at the Williamsburg location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support physicians and healthcare providers in delivering patient care, including assisting with examinations and medical procedures.
- Facilitate smooth patient flow and care during medical assessments and treatments.
- Guide patients to and from examination rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas.
- Document patient information prior to each physician consultation, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and any medication updates.
- Gather all essential patient documentation required by physicians prior to treatments or procedures.
- Coordinate patient testing, procedures, and appointments as necessary.
- Manage pre-authorizations and pre-certifications when required.
- Execute additional administrative tasks as directed by supervisors or physicians.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required, ideally within a multi-physician environment.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Proven ability to exhibit current knowledge of the medical field and industry standards.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is highly preferred.
- Willingness to travel between various locations as needed.
