Healthcare Benefits Coordinator

TEKsystems is seeking multiple Healthcare Benefits Coordinators to join our dynamic team.

Role Summary:
The Healthcare Benefits Coordinator, under general supervision, plays a vital role in guiding patients through their insurance coverage and benefits. This position involves assessing patients' financial capabilities and providing education on available assistance programs. The Coordinator is responsible for updating and maintaining patient insurance eligibility and benefits within the system, while adhering to compliance standards.
Prior to treatment, the Coordinator gathers essential insurance information and patient demographics, educating patients on their coverage, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' financial situations and discuss payment options.
- Provide education on financial assistance programs and assist patients in completing necessary forms.
- Prepare Patient Cost Estimate forms based on diagnosis and insurance coverage.
- Complete reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature.
- Obtain pre-authorization or referral approval codes from Clinical Reviewers before treatment.
- Review patient account balances and coordinate with front desk staff for patient meetings.
- Ensure accurate entry of patient co-pay amounts into the system.
- Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information at each visit according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Stay informed about available financial aid and build professional relationships with financial aid providers.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with state, federal, and HIPAA regulations regarding patient records.
- Keep manuals, logs, forms, and documentation up to date, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient pre-services coordination or a related field, with at least 1 year in patient benefits.
- Familiarity with insurance eligibility, market trends, and the ability to explain out-of-pocket costs and deductibles.
