Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced District Retail Manager to join our team at Midland States Bank. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for directing and administering Banking Center Managers and their teams to achieve branch and district profit, growth, and customer service objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a profit plan for each branch, establishing performance goals for the retail staff.
  • Assist the product development team by monitoring competitor's product offerings to stimulate idea generation in the development, modification, and sales activities for new and existing products and services.
  • Maintain a high level of communication within the district by spending at least 60% of time in the branches.
  • Coach and develop Banking Center Managers on all aspects of successful business development, relationship management, and customer retention strategies.
  • Promote a sales culture and ensure that the staff receives proper training to sell and cross-sell products and services that meet individual customer needs.
  • Provide employees with timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback through weekly check-ins, huddle meetings, and coaching & observation sessions.
  • Develop employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth.
  • Review and evaluate branch activity reports, including staffing, loan and deposit growth, overdrafts, charge-offs, and audits to meet profit and performance objectives.
  • Active in local community organizations and activities. Assist reporting branches with the planning, preparation, and delivery of bank-hosted community events.
  • Ensure the bank policies and standard operating procedures are consistently and uniformly applied by all Banking Center Managers.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within the market as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of retail banking sales and customer service experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of multi-branch, retail sales management experience.
  • Strong organizational time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to grasp concepts and processes and to partner with and influence others.
  • Able to handle most problems/exceptions in an independent manner.
  • Strong understanding of customer, product, and branch profitability.
  • Customer-focused individual with good interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • This position requires National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008.
