Role and Responsibilities:
We are seeking an Elementary School Special Education Teacher to join our team. This role is crucial in providing tailored instruction and support to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The responsibilities include:
1. Delivering inclusive support and instruction within general education classrooms that include IEP students, and, when necessary, conducting separate classes.
2. Managing the school's special education programming, which encompasses paperwork, professional development for teachers, communication with parents and students, student assessments, and compliance with educational regulations.
3. Maintaining high academic and behavioral standards for students, while offering ample support to help them succeed.
4. Actively participating in coaching and professional development initiatives.
5. Contributing positively to the Match Charter Public School community during non-instructional periods.
Qualifications:
We prioritize finding the most suitable candidate for this position. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply, even if they do not meet every qualification. Ideal candidates will:
1. Hold a bachelor's degree.
2. Have a minimum of two years of full-time experience as a classroom or special education teacher, preferably in an urban setting.
3. Possess a valid Special Education license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, or be able to obtain it within a year of hire.
4. Believe in the potential for all students to succeed.
5. Show a commitment to continuous improvement in teaching practices through feedback.
6. Demonstrate a proven track record of student achievement.
7. Exhibit strong teamwork skills and a willingness to support colleagues.
