SKILLS:

  • Maintain a detailed record of individuals entering and leaving the facility, documenting any unusual occurrences in accordance with established protocols, ensuring that only authorized personnel and visitors gain access to the premises.
  • Conduct surveillance of the property, facilities, and resident activities to deter theft and ensure the safety of residents.
  • Verify that all access points to the facility are securely locked and monitored.
  • Oversee fire safety and emergency procedures.
  • Provide administrative assistance in areas such as office coverage, telephone operations, and clerical tasks.
  • Undertake minor maintenance tasks in the absence of maintenance personnel.
  • Execute additional responsibilities as directed by the Director.
  • Operate independently regarding facility oversight, including taking appropriate actions during crisis situations as per agency guidelines.
  • Engage in regular meetings with the Security Supervisor for both individual and group supervision and training sessions.
  • Assist in the transportation of supplies and furniture as needed.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and training workshops aimed at enhancing and developing professional skills.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a security monitoring role.
  • Understanding of issues related to domestic violence and the needs of women and children.
  • Experience in a 24-hour residential setting, capable of working with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Valid registration as a Security Guard in New York State.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
