Job Summary

The Building People is seeking a highly skilled HVAC Engineer I to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems for our properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine assessments, preventive and corrective maintenance for assigned properties, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC requirements.
  • Equipment Operation: Monitor and adjust mechanical/pneumatic equipment, steam stations, control gauges, distributor panels, valves, thermostats, diffusers, and other equipment to provide a comfortable environment for our buildings.
  • Energy Management: Monitor and optimize energy consumption to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • General Repairs: Perform repairs to plumbing fixtures, doors, ceilings, hand railings, and floors, and other general repairs, adjustments, and installations.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled routines, including changing filters, cleaning coils, flushing condensers, punching tubes, greasing fan, pump, and motor bearings, inspecting and adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning pulleys and shafts, and monitoring condenser, chilled, heating, and secondary water chemical treatment and its associated feed equipment.
  • Inspections and Reporting: Document and report activities to supervisors, including inspections of engine room equipment, fan room equipment, cooling towers, motors, house pumps, electric rooms, back-up generators, fire pumps, sump pumps, and ejector pumps.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; Graduate of apprentice program or trade school preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of related work experience in operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting.
  • Certifications: May be required to have certification as a Universal Technician for CFC's depending on market licensure requirements.
  • Skills: Basic Computing Skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word; Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks (where applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Federal Government Experience: A plus.
  • Maximo Experience: A plus.
