Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Lead Space Systems Engineer to become an integral part of our Space Exploration team. In this role, you will contribute significantly to the development and execution of docking system capabilities for a diverse range of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our team, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the program management office in the successful execution of all program aspects, including cost, schedule, procurement, integration, and resource management.
- Providing insights and oversight on the design, analysis, testing, manufacturing, and operational aspects of docking systems.
- Assisting the systems engineering team with requirements management to identify conflicts, gaps, and ensure proper flow down and decomposition of program requirements.
- Participating in design, testing, and certification reviews.
- Preparing and reviewing variances, exceptions, and waivers to established requirements.
- Collaborating in a team environment, monitoring team progress and issues, and escalating as necessary for support.
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree with 12-15 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 10-13 years of relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build cooperative relationships.
- Experience in structural or mechanical system design, including familiarity with design and analysis tools and testing methodologies.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work independently.
- Self-motivation and a quick learning ability to adapt to a wide range of subjects and challenges.
- Experience in supply chain management and collaboration with suppliers to meet hardware and non-hardware deliverable requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience or exposure to docking systems and operations.
- A working knowledge of ISS and/or Commercial Crew design and verification documentation and requirements.
- Familiarity with NASA and ISS standards, practices, and requirements, including safety and fault tolerance.
- Experience using CAD tools to manipulate CAD models or STP files.
- A background in project engineering or a strong desire to learn about project engineering.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is between $108,000 and $196,225. This range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Factors influencing the offer may include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
