Job Description

Leidos is seeking an experienced Space Systems Growth Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Aerospace Systems Business Area, you will be responsible for business development and strategy within the Defense Systems Sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead growth efforts for the Space Division, including ownership of business development and strategy, while working with other growth functions such as Government Affairs and Marketing/Communications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of national and international space markets, including national security space, civil space, and commercial space. They will also have experience interacting with NASA, Space Development Agency (SDA), Air Force, Space Force, Army, Navy, and other government agencies, as well as commercial space providers.

The Growth Lead will be responsible for developing and managing a robust qualified pipeline, and will require a high degree of responsibility, significant and lasting customer affinity, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize against goals and objectives.

The position will also involve assigning, managing, and tracking resources, maintaining accurate and up-to-date opportunity details in a pipeline database, and tracking marketing and B&P execution consistent with business priorities.

The successful candidate will have a strong business acumen, technical understanding, and resourcefulness, and will be able to negotiate for positive outcomes. They will also be able to guide opportunities through gate reviews with management up to and including at the executive level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a robust qualified pipeline
  • Assign, manage, and track resources
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date opportunity details in a pipeline database
  • Track marketing and B&P execution consistent with business priorities
  • Guide opportunities through gate reviews with management up to and including at the executive level

Requirements:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience and 15+ years prior relevant experience or a Masters degree with 12+ years of experience
  • Experience within the space domain across multiple markets including development and operations
  • Direct, relevant experience in at least two of the following areas: Earth-orbit space sensing technologies, Human spaceflight programs, Commercial space technologies, or Solid rocket propulsion market
  • Experience in identifying and qualifying large business development programs with emphasis on opportunity qualification and shaping
  • Proven record of success developing opportunities within the community (winning single award >$150M pursuits)
  • Excellent communications skills – demonstrated through written and oral presentations, development of technical papers, volumes, or similar products
  • Strategic Planning coupled with business and technical vision
  • Possess analytical presentation and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with online tools used by the Federal Government for solicitations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in aerospace, electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Understanding of IR sensing technology
  • Understanding of space logistics
  • Understanding of the NASA Artemis program
  • Experience in the commercial space market
