Conducts analytical structural and forming studies through FEA techniques on automotive components and systems, ensuring durability, NVH, and crashworthiness requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret and follow project guidelines with minimal follow-up or additional resources needed to complete tasks.
- Run multiple simulation projects correctly and efficiently to meet all program timelines.
- Develop new processes, procedures, and methods for analysis, and provide further development of calculation methods.
- Use computer FEA software and equipment to perform engineering simulations, ensuring model and postprocessing are completed in accordance with quality requirements, customer specifications, and Cosma standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support design, test, and structural development of components and systems, applying root-cause analysis and countermeasure proposals for issues identified during product development and testing phases.
- Analyze FEA results and proposed product changes to determine feasibility or potential improvement of components and systems, and write technical reports to explain the FE results and provide recommendations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
- 3+ years of related experience required, with 5+ years of experience preferred.
- Knowledge of FE software such as Ansa/Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, Optistruct, Heeds, LS Dyna, nCode, FEMFAT, optimization tools, and postprocessing tools.
- Ability to perform linear, nonlinear, and dynamic simulations, and knowledge of structural requirements for durability, NVH, and crashworthiness.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may occasionally approach very high levels when moving around a factory floor.
