Job Title: Electrical Controls Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team at VulcanForms Inc. in Devens, MA.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, commissioning, and troubleshooting electrical systems for our industrial-scale metal additive manufacturing machines and support equipment. This role will also involve working closely with suppliers to source components and materials, creating and maintaining documentation, and leading the release process for electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including electrical panels, servo drives, power supplies, transformers, sensors, cables, e-chains, fuses, relays, and breakers.
  • Integrate, test, commission, and support automation and electrical control hardware for industrial-scale metal additive manufacturing machines and support equipment.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to electrical system design, including schematics, specifications, and test plans.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source components and materials for electrical systems.
  • Lead the release process for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical system performance or integration.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical system design and development, preferably in the industrial machinery and automation industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design, such as SolidWorks electrical or AutoCAD electrical.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including instrumentation, analog and digital circuit design, high voltage components, and signal processing.
  • Experience with generating precise system-level documentation, including work instructions, root cause analysis, and engineering change orders.
  • Experience with automation platforms, such as B&R, Beckhoff, Siemens, or others.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience designing and tuning closed-loop systems for control of position, pressure, flow, temperature, etc.
  • Experience designing mechanical components and drawings, familiar with ASME Y14.5 standards for GD&T.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a strong desire to take work from concept to completion.
