Chemotherapy Pharmacy Technician Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at New York Cancer & Blood Specialists. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and safety of medication preparations, including chemotherapy and biotherapy.
Key Responsibilities- Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy and suitability.
- Aseptic compounding of medication preparations, including chemotherapy and biotherapy, using proper aseptic technique.
- Assess the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
- Verify patient information and proper physician's authorization.
- Properly handle and dispose of hazardous drugs and waste materials.
- Perform mathematical calculations to determine appropriate drug measurements.
- Under direct supervision, admix drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner.
- Calculate correct dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary equivalents.
- Assist in maintaining accurate temperature logs and control documentation of medications.
- Provide support with inventory control of medications.
- Assist with required cleaning and maintenance of the hood and surrounding areas.
- High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent Work.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with PTCB.
- Minimum 2 years of hospital or outpatient infusion setting experience, including IV compounding of chemo and non-chemo infusions.
- Previous Oncology experience preferred.
- Chemo or IV compounding experience.
- 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
- Knowledge of hazardous drugs.
- Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environment.
- Candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, and dedicated to helping people.
- Proficient in regulatory USP 797/800 guidelines.
- A complete understanding of calculations relating to dosage.
- Salary up to $30 per hour.
