Job Summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CEI Senior Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our construction engineering inspections team, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed in accordance with plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, including making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
  • Coordinate and manage lower-level inspectors to ensure that construction projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of project progress, including daily reports and inspection records.
  • Review contract documents to verify compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate materials sampling and verification testing to ensure that construction materials meet required standards.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors' staff and other stakeholders to ensure that construction projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Perform standard mathematical calculations and attend project meetings as needed.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent plus four years of experience in construction inspection, with two years of experience in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection.
  • Must have supervised two or more inspectors and been directly responsible for all inspection requirements related to construction operations assigned.
  • Working knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and the ability to apply formulas.
  • Proficient in the use of iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, SiteManager, MAC, and/or OneDrive.
  • Experienced with FDOT construction inspection and procedures.
  • Must possess good interpersonal, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work day or night shifts, weekends, and/or flexible schedules as required to support project requirements.
  • Ability to accept assignments requiring extended travel.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently, use own judgment, and make good decisions.
  • Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports.
  • Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge, and structure plans, standards, and contract specifications.
  • Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion.
  • Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb, and balance, and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasks.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's license with good driving record and ability to drive.
