Job Summary

Hospice of the Piedmont Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team. As a CNA in our hospice care program, you will play a crucial role in providing comfort, support, and assistance to patients and their families during their final stages of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal hygiene, and comfort measures in accordance with the care plan developed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Patient Observation: Observe and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the hospice nurse.
  • Mobility and Transfer: Assist with mobility and transfer of patients as needed.
  • Documentation: Document all care provided and any changes in patient condition accurately and timely.
  • Emotional Support: Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care.
  • Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Confidentiality: Respect and uphold patient rights and confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Certification: Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Virginia.
  • Experience: Prior experience in hospice care or a similar setting is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of direct patient care.
  • Compassion: Compassionate and empathetic nature with the ability to provide emotional support.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Physical Stamina: Physical stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
