Job Description and Duties

As a Pharmacist Intern at the Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center, you will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and dispense medications and pharmaceutical preparations
  • Fills prescriptions and reviews patients' charts and medication regimens
  • Participates in treatment team meetings and provides ongoing consultation to treatment teams and the Medical Review Committee
  • Maintains unit dose system and keeps records of drugs, poisons, and narcotics as required by Federal and State laws
  • Assists in the preparation of estimates and requisitions for drugs, sundries, and chemicals required
Working Conditions:

The typical physical demands of this position include possessing and maintaining sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained within the Duty Statement.

The typical working conditions include ongoing interaction with pharmacy staff, providers, health services specialists, registered nurses, vendors, program, and unit staff.

Requirements:
  • Must possess a background investigation clearance prior to being hired
  • Must possess medical clearance prior to being hired
