Pharmacist Intern

As an Intern Pharmacist at the Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center, you will have the opportunity to work under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and perform various tasks related to pharmacy operations. Your responsibilities will include preparing and dispensing drugs and pharmaceutical preparations, filling prescriptions, reviewing patients' charts and medication regimens, participating in treatment team meetings, and maintaining unit dose systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and dispense drugs and pharmaceutical preparations under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Fulfill prescriptions and review patients' charts and medication regimens.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and provide ongoing consultation to treatment teams and the Medical Review Committee.
- Maintain unit dose systems and keep records of drugs, poisons, and narcotics as required by Federal and State laws.
- Properly handle investigational drugs and assist in the preparation of estimates and requisitions for drugs, sundries, and chemicals.
This position requires ongoing interaction with Pharmacy Staff, Providers, Health Services Specialists, Registered Nurses, Vendors, and Program and Unit Staff. You will be required to maintain a drug supply, inventory, stocking, picking unit doses, packaging, pickup, and delivery of drugs, as well as perform computer data entry.
Special Requirements:- A Background Investigation must be cleared prior to being hired.
- Medical Clearance must be obtained prior to being hired.
