Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at Carilion Clinic. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive health histories and perform physical, psychological, and developmental assessments using appropriate techniques based on age.
- Assess and manage acute illness, pregnancy, trauma, and chronic illness and conditions, analyzing and interpreting health data to inform treatment plans.
- Discriminate between normal and abnormal physical, psychological, and developmental findings, and determine when to consult with and/or refer to other members of the healthcare team.
- Initiate, implement, and prescribe appropriate treatment plans, consulting with physicians as needed, and administer medications and injections as appropriate.
- Perform or request laboratory and screening tests, conduct preventive screening procedures based on age and history, and accurately record changes in health status and assessment findings.
- Provide patient/family education, develop plans for continued healthcare management, and promote health maintenance activities for patients, promoting wellness through health education and coordinating necessary appointments and referrals.
- Document patient information in the medical records in a timely manner, including updates on treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
- Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/department preferred.
- Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.
- Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers. Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients, and their family members.
