About the Role

The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) organization at Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Electric Vehicle (EV) Safety Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the Global PSM team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe design and reliable operation of facilities that contain or use Highly Hazardous Chemicals (HHCs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Amazon Worldwide Design Engineering teams to ensure new equipment and modifications to existing EV infrastructure equipment comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and harmonized standards.
  • Lead process hazard analyses (PHAs), assist in the development and review of equipment designs, and provide guidance on requirements for controls and devices.
  • Collaborate with various engineering, design, and operations teams to drive a systematic approach to address risk identification, mitigation, and management of safety solutions.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to support global projects and initiatives.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience.
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Experience in safety engineering programs in manufacturing or production environments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of certification bodies for approvals that comply with local, national, and international regulations.
  • Knowledge of International and EU/NA Standards such as EU Machinery Directive, ISO, ANSI, OSHA, NFPA.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • CSME or other functional safety certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands, goals, timelines, and priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate and lead in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
